We Are Women Art Exhibit in Downtown Wheaton March 1–31, 2024 ​In partnership with the DuPage Art League and the City of Wheaton Community Relations Commission, we are excited to display artwork from some of the DuPage Art League's talented women artists and other local artists at some of Wheaton's fabulous women-owned or managed businesses. Wheaton College Artist Series: Shawn E. Okpebholo’s Songs in Flight

Armerding Concert Hall 520 Kenilworth Ave, Wheaton

Pulitzer Prize-, MacArthur Genius Grant-, and Grammy Award-winning artist Rhiannon Giddens, alongside other internationally acclaimed and award-winning artists soprano Karen Slack, countertenor Reginald Mobley, baritone Markel Reed, and pianist Paul Sánchez will present, award-winning composer Shawn E. Okpebholo song cycle, “Songs in Flight.” This powerful work is inspired by “Freedom on the Move,” a database spearheaded by Cornell University comprising over 30,000 newspaper advertisements placed by North American enslavers to aid in the capture of runaway enslaved people.
