Description
Free Concert in Memorial Park
June 19, 2025 | 7:30 pm | Memorial Park, Wheaton
Back by popular demand, The Wheaton Municipal Band takes the stage at Memorial Park in downtown Wheaton to begin its 96th season. Known as one of the finest bands of its kind in the country, the Wheaton Municipal band, under the direction of Dr. Bruce Moss, wows audiences with its stunning sound and brilliant musicianship. Musicians from all over the Chicagoland area audition for the coveted spots in the band. Each week the musicians rehearse new music on Wednesday, for a performance on Thursday. Every concert is different and offers a glimpse into the challenges facing an 89-piece concert band which performs a new concert each week.
The free concerts represent a collaboration between The City of Wheaton, The Wheaton Park District, the WMB Board and the Friends of the Wheaton Municipal Band. Step back in time and experience live music in the beautiful setting of Memorial Park.
All concerts begin at 7:30 but come early and enjoy a picnic in the park, or purchase popcorn or ice cream from the Friends of the Wheaton Municipal Band.
All concerts are on Thursday evening, with two exceptions: Wednesday, July 2 and Saturday, July 26 at Edman Chapel (the only indoor concert).

Armenian Dances, one of Reed’s most popular compositions, will be performed as a tribute to Dr. Harry Begian, legendary band conductor and frequent guest of the Wheaton Municipal Band. Our special guest conductor will be Yasuhiro Murakami, a Japanese author and scholar who specializes in the study of Reed’s compositions.
