It is with pride and gratitude that I announce my decision to seek a third term as the Mayor of Wheaton. I am thankful for the encouragement and support of the community that I have received over the past seven plus years and look forward to serving and continuing to improve our community in the upcoming years.
We are all proud of the City of Wheaton, the place I have called home for almost forty years. I will stay focused on preserving Wheaton as a vibrant community in which to raise a family and enjoy our children and grandchildren. I will continue to maintain Wheaton’s character as a residential community, support our local businesses, enjoy our many community activities and appreciate our schools and parks. Wheaton is doing well. We need to keep it going.
Wheaton is thriving because of the hard work of many. We are especially proud that residents in our recent community survey rated the quality of City services at a satisfaction rating of 95.3%. In addition, 98% of survey participants rated Wheaton either “Good” or “Excellent” for the quality of life in Wheaton. The benefits of a rebuilt Downtown are being realized through: 1. New property construction, 2. The renovation of existing property and the ever-increasing openings of new businesses and 3. The expansion and success of existing businesses. The financial position of the City remains strong, generating budget surpluses to continue to deliver a high level of City services while making the ongoing investments that our residents expect.
We will remain dedicated to addressing our challenges in a deliberate and collaborative way. Our pension plans are essentially fully funded. We will take on the projects that need to be done, such as updating our police station and rebuilding our fire station on President Street. We will continue to prioritize community safety and make infrastructure enhancements to address flooding, improve our sanitary sewers and water mains, reconstruct our roads and remove our lead service lines.
Wheaton is a vibrant and active community. Our residents and visitors enjoy the French Market under the Pavilion, our variety of restaurants, our mix of businesses and services, the Prairie Path and our outdoor concerts and activities. Adams Park is a wonderful source of tranquility next to our award-winning library.
Wheaton is safe, thriving and vibrant. According to Realtor.com, Wheaton is one of top ten housing markets in the country. Let’s keep it going!
Please support my re-election as Mayor by voting for me on April 6th, 2027. I very much appreciate your confidence and support.
